November Meeting and New Book for December

We had a great time today!  The book we decided on for this month is The Hobbit by J.R.R. Tolkien.  The other books we considered are:

Nicholas Nickleby by Charles Dickens (Going to read next month!)
The Good Master by Kate Seredy
Mistborn by Brandon Sanderson
As a Thief in the Night by Roger Young
No. 1 Ladies' Detective Agency by Alexander McCall Smith
Autobiography of Benjamin Franklin

We will meet Tuesday, December 4, at Nanette's home.  Rachel Hurst and Hilary Jensen will bring lunch!  Happy reading!

Easy Yummy Rolls
1 C melted butter
2 C hot water
2 eggs
3/4 C sugar
1 tsp salt
Mix all of the above ingredients together and then add 2 Tbsp yeast.  Let sit until it begins to bubble (about 15 min). Add 6-6 1/2 cups flour and 1 tsp baking powder.  Mix well, let rise until double, (about 1 hour).  Punch down, roll out, and form rolls desired.  Let rise 1-2 hours.  Bake 11-15 min or until golden brown at 375-400.  Top with butter while hot.  Yummy!  Make about 4 dozen.  For the crescents, roll 1/4 or 1/3 of dough into 14" circle, cut like pizza and roll!

October Book

This month we picked the book The Clockwork Three by Matthew Kirby.

We also have another book if you would like a second suggestion.   Proof of Heaven by Mary Currun-Hacket.  The author happens to be a family friend of the d'Evegnees and Sarah has lined up a big book discussion with the author via skype at the library!  I think the opportunity of discussing a book with it's author is so exciting.  Anyone is invited, there will be other book clubs in attendance as well.  The book discussion will take place on November 8 at the Madison Library 7 PM.

Our regular meeting will be at my home (636 Autumn Ct) on Tuesday November 6.  Go vote and then come to book club!  We will start gathering at 11:45 and eat at noon.
Shannon Packer will be presenting 3 books to read and Sarah d'Evegnee and Nicole Burt will provide lunch.

September

The kids are back in school and hopefully we can all settle into some sort of "normal" schedule!  We met today at Hilary Jensen's home and ate a yummy lunch.  Please post recipes, Shelly, for the salad (the tortellini one you mentioned too) and the meat recipe please Melinda! We missed those of you who didn't make it and hope to see you next month!

The books we voted on today were as follows;

Heavan is Here by Stephanie Nielson
Master by Toni Sorenson

The History of Love by Nicole Krauss

And the one we chose is, Gravity vs The Girl by Riley Noehren.

Next month, October, we decided to meet on the second Tuesday since the first one falls during harvest break.  We will meet on Tuesday, October 9.  Start time has been changed to 11:45 and we will eat at 12:00.  Melinda Ollerton is going to host  and present us with three books to choose from.  Stephanie and Nanette will provide lunch.

Happy reading!  Thanks for all you do to make this book group happen!
